Rabbi Akiva, while still poor and before he became a great sage of his people, comforted his wife Rachel with a promise born not of wealth, but of devotion. “If I had the means,” he said, “I would place upon you a Jerusalem of Gold” - the Holy City itself, shaped into a jewel by love. אִי הֲוַאי לִי רָמֵינָא לִיךְ יְרוּשָׁלַיִם דְּדַהֲבָא
It was not merely an ornament he envisioned, but a symbol: Jerusalem transformed into adornment, its sanctity resting close to the heart. In time, the promise was fulfilled — not only in gold, but in the greatness Rabbi Akiva attained through perseverance and sacrifice.
Inspired by that timeless promise, each of the 28 buildings and iconic landmarks has been carefully fashioned in miniature and brought together to create my own Jerusalem of Gold — a city gathered into a single jewel.
The Jerusalem Horizons necklace is crafted in solid 18K yellow gold. The pendant weighs 14.7 grams, with an additional 3.1 grams for the 18K gold chain (total weight 17.8 grams). The pendant measures 2 cm in height by 4.7 cm in width, suspended from a 29 cm 18K gold chain.
